Evaluation

1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

Through this module i have learnt about the different techniques used in guerilla advertising. Even though we didn't use this technique, we had a go at physically changing environments on photoshop. This would have been fun if we got the opportunity for doing it to a real environment. However this would have been a complicated process as measurments would have been vital as we would have been working on a larger canvas than we are use to working on.
We also learnt to keep things simple! Complicated design is not always to key to good design.

2. What approaches to/methods of research have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

For the guerilla advertising part, we did a lot of first hand research by going out and photographing things which could have influenced where our design was placed outside. I looked throughly into the 'advertising is dead' book and learnt more about what guerilla advertising was and the methods of delivery it uses. I found this process very satisfying as now when i look at imagery in which this style is applied, i understand it fully.
I also learnt that thorough, focused research is always forward. Hannah is very good at ideas and she loves the concepts and ideas behind good design. This has helped me a lot as this is one of my weaknesses and i will definately apply this process to my other design modules.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

After attending crits, i feel our strength is our message in our design. Design is very simple and limited but gets the message across well.

I think me and Hannah was really good with time keeping. By keeping project files this helped us to get things done on time. With Hannah being concept driven and me being more of a technical person, these skills complimented eachother well as ideas could be visualied as described.
I also learnt a variety of techniques which could help me in my future projects as i saw the way hannah works to come up with a good concept driven project which has meaning and is graphic design!

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these more fully?

Brainstorms are something i really need to work on to help forward my work. By doing this i would be able 2 push ideas and thoughts to the fullest to then help influence the direction of my work. Also thinking about how my design would work and have an effect on others in the real world is something i need 2 take into consideration.

5. Identify four things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?
1> Try using my own imagery if i can
2> Try using different ways of research for eg. brainstorming, sketching, mind mapping etc.
3> Work with someone who works to a completely different style to me, which i could learn from.
4> try a product based graphic project as this would urther my knowledge into basic packaging design if this type of job ever came about for me in the future.
